
Northwestern Middle School PTO Mini Grant Application
PURPOSE OF THE MINI-GRANT PROGRAM:
The Northwestern PTO has allocated funding for mini-grants to the Northwestern faculty and staff. Our goal is to provide funds that encourage the development and support of projects or initiatives for which no other funding is available. The mini-grants should support and advance our school-based goals for improving student learning and achievement. Mini grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis, applications should be submitted one week prior to the monthly PTO meeting for review and vote for use of funds. All funds granted should be prioritized for the current school year's use. Last applications accepted March 31.
2025-26 Rolling Application Due Dates:
First Friday each month August-March.
Specifics when applying:
Please be very specific with details and includes web links of the items requested if and when possible as well as Brand, Company and/or Provider names.
Requirements for Applying:
- Applicants must be a Northwestern PTO member for the current school year for your application to be considered.
Project Criteria:
- Projects should be innovative, creative, and stimulating to the students and staff.
- Projects should support and expand upon the subject’s curriculum.
- Projects should not be covered by existing funds.
- Projects must align with the goals in the school-based plan.
- Project must fall in the category of educational manipulative.
Funding Agreement:
- Monies received from the mini grant program must be used prior to March 31st to ensure use of items/programs in the current school year. If not used by that time funding will return to the PTO budget. Receipts for all purchased items are required to be submitted to PTO.
Please note:
Office supplies and/or field trips will not be funded by PTO.
Requests previously made and rejected by admin will also not be approved by PTO.

Who can submit an application?
Any member of the teaching faculty and/or academic staff at Northwestern may submit one or more proposals as long as he or she is a current member of the PTO for the school year. A staff member may apply individually for a grant or as a team member in a group project.
How much money is available for each grant?
Mini-grants are funded based on the application process and decisions made by a PTO Executive Committee along with administration. The PTO allocates funds at the beginning of each semester and the amount varies each year.
